Abstract masterpieces created by your child, one brushstroke at a time.

My Mission

Experience with the visual arts promotes critical thinking, problem solving, and risk taking within children.  At Abbstract Originals, my goal is to provide an opportunity to create special memories where all individuals can feel successful and experience limitless boundaries for creativity.

At Abbstract Originals, I help guide your child's creativity by providing them with a blank canvas to transform into an abstract masterpiece perfect for any home. All artwork is one of a kind, created by your child & intended to represent the style of a professional piece that you may purchase at a gallery or your favorite home store. My role is to help provide your child with the tools needed for this process such as: selecting various paint brush sizes and textures to use, demonstrating different brush strokes or dripping techniques, balancing and choosing paint colors and amounts used on the canvas and teaching techniques to create a style perfect for your home.

Although the end goal is to have a unique piece of art to display in your home, it is important for the creative process to be a fun and meaningful experience for your child. As an elementary school teacher for 22 years with a background in art, I will provide your child with an enthusiastic, exciting and inspiring opportunity to tap into their own creative mind. When working with my young artists, we follow two main rules:

Rule #1

Have fun!

Rule #2

There are no mistakes in art!

Creativity is contagious, pass it on.

The Creative process

Pre-painting Consultation: In order to create artwork that works for your home, it is helpful we communicate through email before the session to select the desired color palette, style and canvas size to work with.  This consultation includes a 15 minute phone conversation and up to 4 email correspondences. Please visit the Art Styles page to select your preferred style. I will send you suggested paint colors or you can make specific requests. You may also provide photos of artwork styles you find inspiring.

Booking a session:  Once your planning consultation has been completed, I will purchase all discussed materials and we will schedule a two hour painting session at your home.  This 2 hour time frame will include set up, practicing techniques with my artists, the painting process and clean up. Timing will vary depending on the project, but will be completed within 2 hours. I will bring all of the necessary materials including plastic coverings, drop cloths, painter’s tape, wipes and other items needed for set up, painting and clean up to protect any surfaces in your artist's workspace.

Artist's Workspace: Garages work best for your young artist's workspace.  We will need to be able to stand the canvas upright against a wall and lay it flat throughout the creation process.  We will need to have access to a light source to properly see, as well as water for washing brushes.

Pricing: Abbstract Originals sessions start at $500 & pricing varies depending on your canvas size & number of paint colors.  Each session includes a planning consultation, all supplies needed for painting and cleaning, one canvas, my transportation time and my guidance for up to a two hour painting experience with your child/children. Our session will end with a completed canvas. Please visit the Pricing page for specific details.
